Garmin Forerunner 310XT Review

The Garmin Forerunner 310XT is one of the best GPS watches ever made. It combines the very best in GPS sports watches with a top notch heart rate monitor. This is the perfect Triathlon watch as you can easily transition from swimming to running to cycling – with the press of a button. And even if you are into other sports – like Golfing & Cross-Country Skiing, the Garmin Forerunner 310XT tracks all your data. This is truly the perfect Multi-Sport watch for the beginner to the serious athlete.

What’s Unique About the Garmin Forerunner 310XT

This is the only GPS sports watch that is water-resistant up to 164 feet (50 meters) – which makes it the perfect Triathlon watch. You only need to choose swim mode from the menu and you are good to go for tracking your data. Please take note, that any GPS devices were never meant to work properly in water, as there is no proper communication between the receiver and the satellites. But the Garmin Forerunner 310XT still does a good job of estimating your speed and distance in water. By the way most other GPS outdoors watches are only water-resistant to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

What Else is Outstanding in the Garmin Forerunner 310XT

Besides for being the excellent swimming GPS running watch, you will be surprised by the accurate GPS function. Not only does the Garmin Forerunner 310XT lock into satellites faster than any other GPSGarmin Forerunner 310XT running watch, but it also perfectly tracks your movements near tall buildings and wooded areas. I’ve had some other GPS watches, that had many problems in areas like that. Garmin seemed to have developed the perfect system for GPS running watches. Great Job! And after you are done with your workout and you are near your computer, the Garmin 310 uploads your data without any cables with a special wireless receiver. Normally other GPS watches need to be hooked up with a USB cable – which is most of the time quite a hassle. And by the way, if you are also a fitness fanatic, this model is paired with the Tanita body scale. You can follow your progress of your body fat, weight, water in your body and many other crucial measurements. Another great plus in the Forerunner 310 is the super enlarged battery life of 20 hours. Most other GPS enabled watches only record data for about 8 hours.

What Data Does the Garmin Forerunner 310XT Track

On your user customizable watch screen you can track your position, time and distance, pace, heart rate, power data and much more. Actually most users will almost never need all the special functions this watch has to offer. This watch also has a Virtual Training Partner you can compete against. You only need to set up for example the pace – and you are ready to go.

Final Thoughts About The Garmin Forerunner 310XT

If you are not bothered by the size of this amazing GPS running watch (1.3″ x 0.8″) – than nothing should stop you. This is one of the best (if not the best) GPS heart rate training watches that will keep you in shape and help you train effectively. Otherwise why would so many triathletes and marathon runners swear by this running watch.
