Timex Ironman Road Trainer

The Timex Ironman Road Trainer is part of a new fitness watch development line from Timex. They released several different running watches from this product line, each one geared towards a different target audience. This particular model is geared towards the intermediate  to professional runner that seeks more than the basic training watch functions. Read more about other models from this line here.

Design Of The Timex Ironman Road Trainer

The Timex Ironman Road Trainer heart rate monitor watch is available in 5 different designs. The darker colored models are more targeted towards men but the women’s models look very nice as well. The wrist band colors are available in black, grey, plum and white. In my opinion, the Timex Ironman Road Trainer watch, is one of the most stylish heart rate monitors out there. I know that Polar also designs running watches in brighter/stylish colors, but they don’t even come close to the watches that Timex designs. The watch itself is also not too bulky and looks great even when worn all day.

What Are The Important Features Of Timex Ironman Road TrainerTimex Ironman Road Trainer

The Timex Ironman Road Trainer has more functions than other heart rate monitors in this class. Not only do you get a watch that accurately tracks your heart rate, but the Timex Ironman Road Trainer records your lap time with heart rate and logs up to 50 laps into the log file. Other similar heart rate monitors from competitors don’t have this function. For example the simple/medium Polar watches only record heart rate functions. Besides the present heart rate, the Timex Ironman Road Trainer shows you your average and peak HR, the recovery time and it analyses the time you spent in and out of your heart rate target zone. The target zones are preset to one of six different ranges, and you get notified with an alarm if you are out of your chosen training zone. The watch does that by analyzing your input data and presents you with five training zones, and an additional one that the user can set. The running watch has a built in calorie counter that keeps track of all your burned calories. As already mentioned shortly before, this particular model specializes also on lap functions. The chronograph measures time in 1/100 of a second with lap and split.

Other Features Of The Timex Road Trainer

This model is also a great watch by itself with a 100 hour countdown timer with 20 different modes. The watch’s alarm has a backup function of 5 minutes. When you are working out at night you will appreciate the Indiglo back light with its special Night Mode. The batteries of the watch itself and the chest sensor are user replaceable, which is in my opinion a big plus. They should last you though about 3.5 years, as suggested by Timex. The Timex Ironman Road Trainer can be used in any weather condition as it is water resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters).

Final Thoughts Of The Timex Road Trainer

This heart rate monitor does not only look very stylish (especially compared to other brands) but also packs in many more great features. The watch tracks accurately all your heart rate data and presents it on your display in an easy to read format. The chronograph displays lap and split in large digits. If you are looking for a watch that goes above the basic features, then this watch is for you.
